Burgundy

This is not an heirloom variety apple, but is a fine apple for the home orchard that receives little attention. It was raised at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station at Geneva, NY in 1974. A very fine dessert apple with what has described as a “stunning color.” Fruit is medium in size with bright pink skin overlaid with dark burgundy. The white flesh is often heavily stained with pink when bitten. Flavor is tangy-sweet with firm, crisp flesh. Ripens late August to September.
